Honeyglow Woods introduces four hedgehog critter color variants, each spawning exclusively in one biome after you progress the main story far enough to unlock that region. Unlike classic Dreamlight Valley critters that roam the Plaza, hedgehogs hide in biome-specific underbrush and require favorite-food taming over multiple days. The variants correspond to Drowsybloom Acre, Gloommeadow, Braveheart Grove, and Nectar Apiary — one hedgehog type per biome for a total collection of four companion critters.

Taming hedgehogs is optional for story completion but rewards friendship bonuses, photo mode poses, and completionist satisfaction. Plan your taming route after unlocking each biome through the main chapters rather than backtracking blindly.

Favorite Foods: Golden Honey and Pufflebud Pods

Every Honeyglow Woods hedgehog shares two favorite food items: Golden Honey from pollinated Busy Bees' Houses and Pufflebud Pods harvested from bushes scattered across all four biomes. Pufflebud Pods respawn daily in biome bushes; prioritize Braveheart Grove and Nectar Apiary bushes during Piglet's chapters when you already explore those areas.

Feed the correct favorite on day one to start the taming chain. Wrong food wastes the interaction — the hedgehog flees without progress. Carry both Golden Honey and Pufflebud Pods in inventory when hunting so you can adapt if one food type runs dry during a session.

The Three-Day Taming Cycle

Hedgehog taming follows Dreamlight Valley's standard multi-day critter pattern adapted for Honeyglow Woods. Day 1: Find the hedgehog in its biome during active spawn hours (morning and evening slots work most reliably). Approach slowly, feed Golden Honey or Pufflebud Pods, and confirm a heart particle effect — this registers day one progress. Day 2: Return to the same biome the next real-world day, locate the same variant again, and feed favorite food a second time.

Day 3: Repeat feeding on the third consecutive day to complete taming. The hedgehog joins your critter collection and can follow you in Honeyglow Woods and the main Valley. Drowsybloom Acre hedgehog: Available earliest after Chapter 1. Check flower beds and soft dirt patches near Pooh's house and the riverbank east of the beekeeping area. Taming Tips and Collection Strategy

Tame one hedgehog at a time to avoid confusing daily feed schedules. Stock Golden Honey before starting any taming attempt — nothing is worse than finding a spawn without food.
